Quality of Carers: The owner and Registered Care Manager of Empathy Care, Jonathan Seal, has a simple motto with regards to the quality of his care team and the care they deliver. "If you're good enough to care for my parents, you're good enough to care for our clients". The recruitment of all carers is based on this standard. Jonathan fully appreciates that the quality and reputation of Empathy Care relies on the quality of the carers who deliver its care.

Highly trained staff: Empathy Care ensures that its care workers undergo additional training as standard, over and above the legislative training required.  This includes training on subjects such as empathy, respect and dignity, safeguarding, mental capacity and care with compassion to name but a few. ┬áThe Company actively encourages its entire care team to learn and undertake ongoing training. 

Safeguarding: Many care providers will take an applicant out with them to meet clients, prior to offering employment, just to see if they will enjoy the job.This is often done without the candidate having undergone a DBS (criminal records check). Empathy Care views this as an unsafe practice and therefore, and unlike many other care providers, ensures all care staff and potential new recruits, undergo a DBS (criminal records check), prior to visiting any clients.

Getting to know clients: Empathy Care ensures all new carers undergo "shadow shifts", working alongside either the Registered Manager or a Senior Carer, prior to them working alone in the community. They will undertake however many shadow shifts are needed, watching how care is delivered; getting to know the clients and how the clients care plan should be delivered. The carer will only be allowed to work independently when Registered Manager is happy and confident that they know the clients well, understand how to deliver care in accordance with the care plan and can maintain the high standards of care being delivered.

Continuity of care and familiar faces: Continuity in the delivery of care is of paramount importance. Therefore, Empathy Care's care workers are recruited from within the areas they work. They work only in localised small care teams thus ensuring clients see the same familiar faces on a daily basis.

Introducing Carers to clients: Empathy Care will never send a carer to a client when they have not been previously introduced. All carers visiting clients for the first time will be escorted by a known member of the care team. In addition, Empathy Care does not use "agency workers" to cover staff absences. Any staff absence is covered by a member of its own care team.

Client support: Being an independent, family run organisation, Empathy Care really is small enough to genuinely care and large enough to cope. Our Registered Care Manager ensures he personally gets to know each client and often works in the community delivering care alongside his carers. A member of our Care Management Team is available to speak to 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
